Mother FIGR Certified Coaches in action

Rose Follick and Teri Nucian – CrossFit Trainers & Gym Owner
Rose is the owner/co-owner of Forge Functional Fitness & Health in Milford, MI. Teri is a Forge coach and a CrossFit L2 trainer.
They wanted to become Mother FIGRs coaches to improve their ability to train pregnant and postpartum athletes, especially within their Diapers and Dumbbells class where moms can bring their babies to this pregnant and postpartum mom – focused class.
“It helped us get more specific and intentional about training these athletes. And to answer a lot of common questions and reservations women have about their training during these seasons of life”

Dr. Sam Rybar – Chiropractor
Sam is a Doctor of Chiropractic with a Masters in Sport Science & Rehabilitation.
“I took the Mother FIGR Certification Course to expand upon my knowledge and to be able to help women beyond Webster technique on my table. It has helped me gain a better understanding for both myself on my own pregnancy journey and for the women I treat as they transition back to daily activities and fitness during postpartum. I highly recommend taking the Mother FIGR Certification Course to expand upon your knowledge and help women return safe and strong to the activities they love!”

Jessica Shirley – CPT & Owner of JShirley Fitness
Jessica took the Mother FIGR course to give her the textbook knowledge of how to train pregnant and postpartum women. Even with her expansive hands on and personal experience as a trainer, she wanted the research and in depth knowledge of how to do so.
“This course helped me feel confident to be able to train this population of women safely both during and after their pregnancy”

Nicole Dorais – Childhood Community Education Director
Nicole runs the BARC Pups (the Brighton community rec kids program) & decided to get Mother FIGR certified so she can better support the moms that join the many different activities they offer.

Liz McLaughlan – Owner & Head Coach Five Lakes CrossFit, Massage therapist
Liz took the Mother FIGR course to develop a better understanding of what an appropriate approach to fitness is for pregnant and postpartum women. She coaches a lot of new moms and moms-to-be at Five Lakes and they all want to continue their fitness journey but she felt in the dark as to how to keep them moving in a safe and healthy way!
“It has helped give me the confidence I would want as a coach to guide someone through a workout no matter what stage of life they’re in!”

Skyla Magee – Personal Trainer, Owner of Rooted With Skyla
“I absolutely loved the Mother FIGR in person pregnancy and postpartum intensive! The hands on training gave me confidence and real skills to work with the pregnant and postpartum population. As a trainer, my purpose is to help women feel strong, supported and confident in every season of life including pregnancy and postpartum. With so much misinformation out there, this course gave me the clarity and tools I need to provide safe, effective and empowering support for my clients. I’m so thankful I got to be a part of this and can’t wait to bring it into my coaching!”

Jenna David – Certified Personal Trainer
“I took the course because I am currently in my own postpartum season and wanted to help myself and future clients feel supported during this season. When pregnant with my oldest child, I was unaware when to modify or reduce and resorted to eliminating movements. Postpartum return to fitness came with complications. This recent pregnancy and postpartum season has been night and day compared to my last, with the help of FIGR. Now I’m excited to share my knowledge with pregnant and postpartum moms after becoming Mother FIGR certified.”

Katelyn Darkangelo
Dual Certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Trainer //
FIGR Founder, Co-Owner, Trainer //
Girl Mom x 2
Hey, I’m Katelyn and I’ll be your instructor in the Mother FIGRs Pregnancy and Postpartum Coaches Course!
I am a dual-certified pregnancy and postpartum fitness coach (P&PA Coach and GGS) and have coached hundreds of women both in person and online through their fittest pregnancies and strongest, most comprehensive postpartum recoveries.
I majored in Exercise Science at the University of Michigan, then got my Master of Management from Duke University to help develop my love for fitness into a business.
I created FIGR in 2018 and made it my full time career when my husband, Anthony, jumped on board in 2019. Since then we have helped over a thousand clients both in person and online find their strength and love for the gym themselves.
When we had our daughter, Amelia, in 2021, I became head over heels for the pregnancy and postpartum space. I find nothing more fulfilling than helping moms return to the weights, intensity and movements they love to do without fear or symptoms and full of confidence and strength.
And now educating providers like you means more moms can be in good hands, and there is nothing more important than that.
